Pet Health.
When is FLEA season?. The main season is May to July. But this can change depending on how warm it is, so it could start earlier and finish later,so anything from March to October. If your house is constantly hot it could be flea season all year round. so if you see any sign of fleas it is a good idea to treat your house and pet immediately, fleas grow quickly, egg to adult in 7 to 14 days. You can treat your house with a flea household spray in all areas your pet goes. For your pet you can use, flea powder, spray, flea shampoo and drops. The drops, such as advantage and Bob martin flea and tick spot on treatment ( these are drops that are put in between the shoulder blades at the back of the neck ) and need to be used monthly are a great preventative.
MATTED DOG AND CAT HAIR is painful and dangerous to the health of your pet.
It is a constant struggle for owners of pets with long/ and or luxurious coats in keeping them free of tangles and knots that create matts. What some may not realise is that a constantly matted coat can cause great pain for the animal and can lead to health and behaviour issues. Grooming costs and time is an important consideration when choosing a pet.
When an animals coat is matted down to skin level, each time the dog or cat scratches, the nail scratches the matted hair/fur and tears at the skin. This creates discomfort and pain as the scratching pulls the tangled knots away from the skin and can cause the skin to rip, and if bad enough can lead to infection .This leads to the animals hair needing to be shaved down by a professional. you should not try to cut this yourself as it is very easy to cut into the skin as it can be hard to see the skin underneath the coat. Eyes, Ears, Mouth, Paw Pads and sanitary areas are prone to serious infection due to an improperly managed coat. The matted hair can get dirt, bugs and faeces trapped in it which can cause infection, rashes etc. Your pets behaviour can also change due to pain and discomfort from the matted coat, they could get snappy or bite, cats may stop cleaning themselves because it is too painful
So if your pet has long hair or gets tangled easily all you need to do is brush them regularly, and have them groomed on a regular basis approx every 6 to 8 weeks, we are here to help you and your pet, so don't worry, make an appointment, lets keep your pet happy and healthy. Shaving down a dog is a delicate process and takes time. Their skin can be a little inflamed in parts especially where the matts are bad, which could be a little itchy afterwards, you just need to keep an eye on them.
